Water for Water – Acting sustainably with tap water
The example of tap water shows how small behavioural changes in daily life can have a large positive impact. Tap water is significantly more environmentally friendly than bottled water. That’s why we deliberately rely on tap water in all office spaces, raise awareness together with WASSER FÜR WASSER (WfW) for sustainable water use, and at the same time promote water supply in Zambia and Mozambique.
Water – a precious resource
In Switzerland, clean drinking water is taken for granted — and is a real privilege. It is continuously tested, always available, sustainable and affordable. However, around 844 million people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water — with dramatic consequences for health and development.
Our commitment to WATER FOR WATER (WfW)
As a WfW IN THE OFFICE partner, we actively promote giving up bottled water. We advocate environmentally friendly water consumption and support WfW's educational and infrastructure work.
> For every analysis carried out, umweltcheck.ch donates one franc to WfW.
Our support helps systematically improve water supply and sanitation infrastructure in disadvantaged areas in Zambia and Mozambique. In addition, vocational training in the water sector is promoted and hygiene education is advanced.
WfW project successes
- > Access to safe drinking water for over 100,000 people
- > Hygienic and gender-sensitive sanitary facilities in schools and communities in Mozambique
- > 500 completed vocational trainings in the Zambian water sector
- > Over 100,000 people reached annually through hygiene training
