Indoor Air Analysis Wood Preservatives
Especially in older buildings where wood preservatives, PCB-containing substances or harmful parquet adhesives were once used, semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) are often found. In the 1960s and 1970s, pentachlorophenol was one of the most commonly used wood preservatives and is known to damage the nervous and immune system.
✓ Our Indoor Air Analysis Wood Preservatives examines your indoor air or materials for pentachlorophenol – in addition to all substances already included in the general indoor air test for residential toxins.
How the test works
- Order the wood preservative air test kit in our shop. You receive a complete package with all required materials.
- Take the sample yourself with the included utensils, whenever and wherever you want. Send it directly to the lab with the prepaid return box.
- After about 2–3 weeks you receive a detailed analysis report with all findings and the level of contamination of your indoor air.
Parameters examined
Approx. 50 semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) and pentachlorophenol:
PCBs, DDT, Lindane, benzo(a)pyrene, and many more (complete list available in the full analysis)
- Pentachlorophenol (PCP): widely used in the 1960s/70s; highly toxic and persistent; can damage the immune and nervous system.
- Lindane: insecticide, used until the 1980s in interiors; suspected carcinogen.
- PCBs: found in old plastics as softeners and flame retardants; neurotoxic and immunotoxic.
- DDT: used until the 1970s; still present via imported products.
- Benzo(a)pyrene: key polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH); released from old adhesives or cigarette smoke; strongly carcinogenic.
