Asbestos Test

Asbestos fibers, which are hazardous to your health, are not visible to the naked eye. Only an asbestos test with a laboratory analysis can show whether a sample contains asbestos.

➤ Do you suspect asbestos?

Then have the suspicious material analyzed in our accredited laboratory and get clarity on whether it contains asbestos.

Professional laboratory analysis as self-control

The sample you send us will be analyzed for asbestos in our accredited laboratory as follows:

  • Through a scanning electron microscope with coupled energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis.
  • According to VDI guideline 3866-5 (2017-06)

Scope of Asbestos Test

When you order our asbestos test, you receive an all-inclusive package. In addition to detailed instructions on how to take the sample, the test kits also include the required sample vessels and an already labeled shipping box.

For material sampling, you can choose between a material sample and a dust sample. In the case of the material sample, a piece of the suspected substance is sent to the laboratory, whereas in the case of the dust sample, collected dust is examined microscopically.

Fast, reliable and comprehensible analysis results speak for our asbestos test!

» Characteristics of products containing asbestos:

Asbestos is the name for natural rock fibers, which belongs to the group of silicate minerals. Two types of asbestos can be distinguished: White asbestos (often called chrysotile) and blue and brown asbestos (or also called amphibole). These two types differ both in chemical composition and in appearance.

In 1989, a comprehensive ban on asbestos came into force in Switzerland. Accordingly, the use of building materials containing asbestos, including products and objects, is prohibited. However, asbestos-containing materials can be expected in buildings constructed before the ban as well as during the transitional period.

The asbestos fibers, which are hazardous to health, are not visible to the naked eye. Only after laboratory testing can it be determined whether a suspect sample contains asbestos.

  • Asbestos cement and hard asbestos cannot be pressed in with a finger and will sink in water due to its weight
  • Spray asbestos and soft asbestos, on the other hand, can be pressed in with a finger and will float on the surface of the water.
  • Astbestos plaster and asbestos boards are often soft and brittle.
  • Asbestos-containing cardboards, sealing cords and foams are usually not resistant to tearing.

If asbestos is found to be present, caution is advised. This is because renovation work, such as tearing out flooring, should also be done by professionals to minimize the risk of asbestos contamination in the surrounding area.

Order your asbestos test now and get certainty if there are asbestos-containing fibers in your environment.
